Exam period starting means a lot more posts! :P
Comment with any ship (romantic or platonic or maybe even non-existent!) from a fandom that you know I have some knowledge about, and I will rant about aforementioned ship. This may be incoherent gushing or exclamations of disgust, depending on your ship of choice.
(doesn't have to be a ship I actually ship!)

And I think that sense of home is the strongest with Mal. He clearly lost a lot in the war, most of all his faith and his optimism, and I don't believe he could have kept going if he hadn't stumbled on Serenity. Of course, it's all about that moment in Out of Gas when he first sees her. The look of True Love. And along the way, the ship got filled with all these unexpected people he may not really want there at first (with the exception of Zoe), but it becomes home.
But I also think that no matter what happens to the rest of the crew, no matter how much it will hurt him when they die or leave, he'll be reasonably okay as long as he has Serenity.
We never really see Mal as soft, and - I'll say it - serene, as when he is 'interacting' with his ship. She is what keeps him going. And I love that Serenity is really another character in the show, and how much care has gone into the design, because it is SO important that it feels like a home, not a means of transportation.
So yeah, in many ways Mal/Serenity is like Doctor/Tardis for me. It is the ultimate OTP of the show, and overshadows all the ship wars between various characters because long after everyone else is gone, it will be the captain and his ship. That's not to say I don't also ship Mal/Inara and Mal/Saffron! :) But I have many feelings that I never really articulated on Mal/Serenity, clearly! :D

I really need a Nina icon. Stat.

But then I came back, watched the final episodes of the season, and started to love them. Because I started to love Nina. It was the final part of the final S2 episode when Nina became AWESOME (or I discovered that she was awesome) and then she grew to be my favourite through the course of S3. And her relationship with George is connected to that. I love that they are two very normal people having a very normal relationship, something you don't see that much on tv. There is no grand passion or will-they-won't-they, they are just very much in love and trying to make a life together. The whole werewolf thing hardly factors in. They are just funny together, and comfortable and domestic. They're such a unit, and would make amazing parents.
I wouldn't say they're a big ship of mine, but that's mostly because I feel like they don't need me, if that makes sense? I would be so upset if they broke up or something went wrong, though!

One of the few things I knew about The West Wing before starting on it, was that Josh/Donna was quite a popular ship. (I still, btw, don't know if/how/when they ever get together so NO SPOILING8). But I don't think that knowledge factored into how I see them, because they were just meant to be shipped.
Josh was one of my favourites from the beginning, but along the way it has become clear that the guy needs to be taken down sometimes, which is what most of his love interests are good at. But I think his relationship with Donna is about more than that, because she realises how vulnerable he really is. And he respects her, even if she is naive sometimes.
I can actually pinpoint when I truly started shipping it: first, there was the amazing scene in the first ep of S2 when Donna arrives at the hospital and finds out Josh was shot? She just falls apart, and it shows how much they mean to each other. That was when I started LOVING Donna and their relationship. And then many episodes later there is this dialogue where he says he wouldn't stop for a drink if she was in hospital (like her ex did), and she says she wouldn't stop for a red light if he was in hospital. That's when I started shipping it.
But most of all, I can't resist a bantering couple! I just can't. Their scenes together are my favourites, and shipping them is mostly about wanting as many scenes as possible between the two of them. I don't really care if they ever truly get together on the show, because it really isn't a show about that kind of plot. As long as they keep bantering. It hits my kink for screwball comedy-dialogue :).

Josh is an always will be my favourite TWW character, not just because i adore Bradley Whitford :D Josh just has this way about him! and he meshes so well with Donna.

I think the main thing about it is that, regardless of romantic feelings, the show is about the friendship between Merlin and Arthur, about how Arthur makes Merlin want to help him do the right thing and defend the country, about how Merlin makes Arthur see what he may be missing from his privileged position. At least that is what the show should be about, and the only reason I can understand people who bash Arthur/Gwen is because making her take over that role is a big mistake.
I stopped watching the show because of many reasons, but one of them was that the character relations didn't move forward, especially M/A. I like how much they genuinely care for each other, but it wasn't worth the terrible plot and character development anymore. Not even for all the prettiness, which honestly was my only reason for sticking around anyway.
I think it shows that I am still attached to them in a way because I can't quite manage to let them go and still read fic about them.
They are one of my main ships if you look at how much fic I have read about them, but tbh I don't have that many feelings on them anymore. I have characters or ships I could write an essay on, but not them. It's always been like that, so it's not just because it has been a while since I watched the show regularly. I remember writing quite a long post comparing Remus/Sirius to M/A, which I never posted but I still have it on my computer somewhere, and it's all about how little, in comparison, I get emotionally involved with M/A.
This turned into a bit of a downer post:/. THEY'RE CUTE THOUGH, AND PRETTY! :P
