I. I've rewatched Being Human S1 and it's still stunning. I'm enjoying the current season too, though I miss the sense of family the original OT3 had. I know it's the point that the new one isn't as close but I don't like it. And I didn't really enjoy the last episode much at all (maybe because of that?). But the episode before that was very funny and made me warm up to Hal a lot.
I'm also still watching The Vampire Diaries, Parks and Recreation, Shameless US and Smash. I never talk about those because I hardly have any feelings on them, but I feel like I should mention I'm still watching them? :P

II. In real life, not much is going on that's even remotely interesting. I'm trying to get it together and plan for the future and work hard etc but you know. I'm me and it could be going better. I'm making an effort though, and I only have 9 hours of class each week AND decided not to take a weekend course thingy I wanted so I could focus on the work I have to do. Hopefully it'll work out.

III. Some excellent questions that [livejournal.com profile] space_dementia6 asked me for that one meme that's been going around:

1.) What do you like most about being a Belgian?
I actually quite like being Belgian in general! I get annoyed because of our politics but so does every other nationality in the world, and I’m not especially patriotic or anything, but I don’t really want to be any other nationality either. What I like most is how small the country is, so that when someone lives on ‘the other side of the country’ you can stil go and visit them and be there in a few hours. And I feel at home here, which is a big deal for me, personally, because I am an anxiety-riddled socially awkward mess and no matter how much I love Paris or London I am always feeling uncomfortable because I’m a tourist no matter how many times I visit. And being able to walk around a city like Antwerp (not Brussels though, I might as well be a tourist there) and not have that feeling is wonderful.

2.) Of all the TV shows currently airing which you watch, you could make sure one gets to the end without being pulled, which one do you choose?
Not to be totally unoriginal here, but Game of Thrones. Because while there are other shows I arguably love more (Being Human, Leverage, Mad Men etc) I feel like they are quite good at having solid season arcs instead of a big series-long story. So while I wouldn’t like any of those to be cancelled, it’s not like there’s a real end they have to get to. Whereas GoT is very serial, and mostly there are just so many things from the books I want to see them do something interesting with! Just thinking of seeing That Thing from Storm of Swords play out on-screen makes me shiver.

3.) one piece of music, which affected your life in some way?
Ooh, this one is hard because my music knowledge is extremely limited. And ‘affected my life’ is awfully big. I’m gonna be a bit obscure and say Man in the Moon by Nils Lofgren (I buried a friend before my first kiss / I want a life with some peace in it soon / give me a rocket to the man in the moon). It’s a bit random, but this is one of the first songs where I really listened to the lyrics and the story they told, and have it affect me. I’m not saying this is the greatest poetry ever put to music, but I still get chills listening to this and it’s more or less the first song where I remember that happening because of the words. One that wasn’t in a movie, anyway.

4.) name one movie which is underrated, and one other which you consider to be overrated?
Underrated: Mr Nobody, because not nearly enough people have seen it, and I think it’s wonderfully done, both cinematically and narratively. It’s an insanely complicated story with a dozen different strands, but you don’t ever get completely disconnected or lost while watching it, and there is place for attachment and emotion. Idk, I really love it.
Overrated: I think a lot of movie-quality comes down to personal taste and I’m not one to tell people a movie they love sucks because maybe they got something out of it that I didn’t. That being said, it is an eternal mystery to me why The Shawshank Redemption tops so many Best Movies lists. I’ve always found that movie to be average at best.

5.) In terms of movies, what is the greatest adaptation of all time?
Like, book-to-movie adaptation? I tend to avoid those if I’ve read the book, actually. :/ I usually either don’t want my mental image to be ruined or I don’t think it’ll add anything to my experience. Can I say Clue as adaptation? :D And book-to-tv wise GoT is doing a fine job but the greatest is still Brideshead Revisited.

6.) If you could move anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Paris. No question, I have wanted to move there since the first time I visited. I am aware of being a cliché but I can dream, right? ;)

7.) Who do you want to sit on the iron throne when all the dust clears from westeros? (Vague spoilers, I guess)
Hmmm, I think the most likely outcome is Jon and Dany, but then again it’s so likely it might not happen. But that’s what I’d be most okay with. I mainly want Sansa for Queen in the North, Asha on the Seastone chair, and Arianne as princess of Dorne. The trick is to have someone on the Iron Throne who would be a decent ruler, but not someone you really love because it’s not a position likely to provide happiness and a long life ;)
