My yearly lists are here! Also known as the one day in the year I remember I have a dreamwidth page.
These lists are all the Best-of, not everything I’ve seen/read/done!!
Reading
Giovanni’s Room - James Baldwin
The Watchmaker of Filigree Street - Natasha Pulley
How to be Perfect - Mike Schur (nonfiction)
Movies
Licorice Pizza
Sound of Metal
Elvis
Everything Everywhere All at Once
Decision to Leave
Glass Onion
Television
About ten seasons of Taskmaster
Better Call Saul (not finished yet, atm halfway through the final season ahh)
Severance
Fandom
Mostly it’s still all about BTS. They’ve slowed down and so has the obsession, but I still keep up with everything they do.
I wrote fic all throughout the year. I finished my first-ever long, multi-chaptered (50k) fic. Really proud of that!
I also read a lot of fic, almost exclusively BTS rpf, but I very much branched out from my original OTP and will now read a slew of pairings.
I’ve now unfortunately mostly moved on from my previous main fandom, Critical Role, but I did jump back in to watch EXU:Calamity, which was legitimately the best storytelling I experienced this year and just a joy to watch. Nothing else this year made me as invested, from clutching my pillow to my chest in anguish to full-on sobbing.
Music
BTS, but since they only released three new songs this year I didn’t listen to them as much as you would expect
Indigo by RM - Album of the year without a doubt even though it came out in december. Gorgeous, honest, captivating. Wild Flower gives me goosebumps every time. The last song, No. 2, makes me tear up whenever I listen to the full album. Just stunning. As much as I enjoy BTS fandom, it’s mono and Indigo that are the albums I will keep with me for a lifetime, more so than the group music.
Some other kpop, mainly a Stray Kids period, some songs here and there I like
playlist
Podcasts
Mostly behind-the-scenes tv podcasts: Better Call Saul Insider, Taskmaster podcast
old faves: Empire, Heavyweight
Live shows (theatre/concerts/…)
Coldplay
The Divine Comedy
Come From Away in the West End
2022 is the year that I
Continued to spend most of my days looking at kpop boys. When will it end.
Went on my first solo trip (kind of); I went to a friend’s wedding in England and then spent three days in London on my own. When I first booked the trip I dreaded it, but by the time it came around I was fine. It showed a lot of personal growth, I think.
Saw dolphins swimming in the wild!
Wrote a lot of fic - which I’m so happy with, after all those years of thinking I couldn’t do it.
Started going to live music again, which was a covid-resolution that I’m glad I stuck to.
last year I wanted to
urgh. Drive. I did drive again a few times this year. I don’t have a car and don’t have to drive often at all, but if I have to, I can.
keep doing yoga I do, though not as much as I should. It comes and goes in waves (aahhh)
watch more movies, read more books, watch more tv. Less youtube and kpop vids! Not nearly as much as I’d like, but much more than last year
generally, be happy. that’s hard to evaluate. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Mostly no? But I do okay.
Next year I want to
Go on at least one date, even if it’s just to get it out of my system.
Keep writing fic
Read a lot, watch a lot, listen to new music, so that I find at least one song or scene or whatever that gives me goosebumps like Wild Flower and Calamity did this year
Make a new friend, can be online or a work friend.
