Day Three: Your favourite new tv show (Aired this tv season)

This is a hard one. There aren't really any brand new shows that I love, they've all been going for a  while...
Basing this on shows that are currently for the first time on BELGIAN tv (or American or British but I can't think of any there), I'm going for Ashes to Ashes. I know it's kind of cheating, because it's been going for a while on the bbc, but it's the first time it's on tv here and the first time I've seen it.
I watched Life on Mars a while ago and loved it. So I was quite weary of a new show with basically the same plot but another lead (replacing Sam Tyler/John Simm who was amazing). And for the first few episodes, I was underwhelmed. Yes, it did have some cool stuff and some of the things that made LoM good, and of course it still had Gene Hunt (which was more than reason enough to stick with it). But I didn't like Alex all that much, and I wasn't really interested in the mystery.

I'm not sure what changed, but after a few episodes, I started liking Alex more and more and I even started to like her with Gene. And now I'm really into the plot as well! I was totally hooked to the silver screen during the S1 finale, and now I'm really impatient because I have to wait a week for every new episode.

Please no spoilers in the comments for anything past 2x2. I know some serious shit is going down in the season that's currently on bbc1, but I have managed to stay away from spoilers so far!

I don't know what the serious shit is either - I just know there's something that is making people excited. But I really really don't want to know.

Have you seen the S1 final? I loved that one.

No, I haven't seen the s1 finale yet! I mean, I saw it ages ago, when I watched it on the Dutch channel, but now I've only seen up until the episode with Matthew MacFadyen in the bathtub. Boo.

It's a surprising finale, isn't it?

It really is a good one. The ending was amazing, just one surprise after another. It's sort of the episode that made me really care about the whole plot. I'm really curious to see what'll happen now.

And ah yes, Matthew MacFadyen was great in that episode. I always love it when someone shows up I didn't expect. Like that one with Russell Tovey!! :D

I know! I remember I went all WAITWUT? over that episode and so I really, really want to watch it again.

Yeah, he was! And it was so much fun to see him play opposite Keeley again. Ah, Tovey was ADORBS. I only found out last week that the guy who played his boyfriend on the show was my beloved John Knightley from Emma. A real facepalm moment. I love the guest stars on the show!

And then the first episode of S2 is even more strange. I'm really curious to see what'l happen next. I love that they're taking another approach to the whole thing from LoM.

I loved seeing Matthew and Keeley together. :)

I never watched Ashes to Ashes because I keep forgetting to watch series 2 of Life on Mars and don't want to get spoiled for it! (Although someone did tell me what happens at the very very end and I am most unimpressed with them. :\ But still.)

I am glad you're enjoying it though, it does look good, from what the other one or two people on my flist have told me. And the odd advert! :)

It is very good. But Life on Mars is still my favourite, I adore that show so much! It'll probably show up in this meme somewhere in the next few weeks!

And booh for someone spoiling the end for you! But you should still watch it, because the whole final part of the final episode is some of the best stuff I've ever seen on tv. :)
