I. Hi!! It's been a while. I'm in the middle of exams. It's not going that well (shocker!) and I'm going a bit crazy over it. Because for once, it's mostly because I just don't have enough time. Not to say I don't also spend too much time on the internet (mainly Tumblr).

II.I saw the movie Garden State yesterday and was a bit disappointed by it, actually. Mainly because I know several people who love it so I was expecting a bit more than I got. Not that I disliked it either - it had some great bits like the screaming-in-the-rain thing, but idk. It felt like there was this emotional depth or this ~message on life that it was trying to bring across but every time it got close for me it just fell flat. And the ending was not what I was expecting either.
Still, it was cute and definitely had some moments that I loved.

III.I've finished S4 of The West Wing. (powering through very fast lately!). I've seen the first few episodes of S5 and I'm trying very hard not to look for differences in the writing, but I know I'm prejudiced because I know Sorkin left. So I'm not sure if I'm projecting or if it really is a lot worse, but so far I've really not been liking S5 at all.

The last time I talked about TWW was in the middle of S3, so I'll ramble out a few reactions to S3 and 4:

- I always love the season finales and how epic they are. In the first season I really wasn't expecting TWW to be a show that did anything special for their finales (which had the effect of me pretty much falling out of my chair at the shooting, of course) but I love how consistently shocking and awesome they have been. The season three finale was especially epic. And reminded me an awful lot of The Godfather, which was probably the intention since it's, you know, The Godfather.
I was tearing up as well (but playing Hallelujah in the background is cheating, I think, so I blame that).

- Season openers are my other favourite thing (and flashback episodes complete the top three). The S4 opening two-parter was so great, and made Donna move up a few places on my ever-changing list of favourite characters. Which I think at the moment goes CJ - Toby - Donna - Josh.

- I do miss Sam. And it is really kind of weird that they did this whole plot about Sam going off to California to set up him leaving but then they never mention that he did get elected or whatever the reason is that he can't come back. Or did I miss something? I would have been really easy to have one line saying he wouldn't be back...

- Will is okay, not as great as Sam and I don't have any specific feelings on him.

- Everyone else is consistently great, not just the regular cast - I also like Amy and Andi (though liking Amy is apparently some kind of unpopular opinion?).

IV. Five Questions from that meme, asked eons ago by [livejournal.com profile] mollivanders

1. What character would you want to live with as roommates? Why?

I've never had a roommate so I'm not sure what is required for a good one :P But I'll randomly go with Annie from Being Human. Because she would make me tea, which is an awesome quality. And I think she would take the initiative to go out and try things, which I need in a friend because if it was up to me I'd stay in my room all day, but she isn't a hard partier either.
I'm sure there are better people but I'm not thinking of them. Most characters I like would only get me into trouble.

2. What House would you be Sorted into?
Ravenclaw! I tend to think of Ravenclaws as people who study really hard all the time, which isn't me to say the least. But I think more than that they are book-lovers and critical thinkers, and it's the Huffelpuffs who are the hard workers (and the GOOD FINDERS).

3. Do you have a favorite vegetable?
Cucumber.

4. Favorite place you've already traveled to you want to revisit?
Paris is my favourite place in the world and I always want to go there, but other than that I think Oxford. Which should happen in a few weeks - I'm going to London and we're thinking of making a daytrip to Oxford. I was there about 7 years ago, and I loved it then. And since then, I've seen & read Brideshead Revisited which is just so connected to Oxford in my mind that I really want to go back there now that I have so many more feelings about it. If we do decide to go I'll probably rewatch the first few episodes of the series to get in the mood.

5. You're granted one wish from a genie - what do you choose?
I honestly think I'd be practical and wish for a good job offer to fall out of the sky like a day after I graduate next year. I am trying not to think about the day I am thrown out there with the useless degree I'll have, but let's just say it sometimes, despite my best efforts, keeps me up at night.

the TWW finales are always so beautiful! the 1st season finale still makes me fall out off my chair even when i know what's coming. for some reason it also makes me cry like a five-year old.

(i also don't remember enough of any of these seasons to know if i agree with you on s5, but i think that's the season where Zoe gets kidnapped? yes/no? i remember that storyline kinda knocked me out XD)

i think Will becomes increasingly more awesome, but that might be because i really love the actor :) and Sam does get mentioned again later on if i recall correctly... but yeah, it's sad that he just sort of disappeared, just like Mandy and Laurie after s1.

liking Amy is an unpopular opinion? oops :D i love the hell of that woman, mostly because of the way she manages to rile up Josh (who you know, is my favourite character, so that might have something to do with it -whistles-)

i just finished rewatching s1 and i'm really surprised by how much i continue to love each and every moment, i think that's because there's just SO much information in each episode that i keep discovering new things :)

i really need a West Wing icon now XD

(this comment is becoming entirely too long)

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR OTHER EXAMS BB! ♥ YOU CAN DO IT!

Zoey is kidnapped at the end of S4, and one of the things I don't like that much about S5 so far is how that was resolved - they suddenly found her, and we don't really get any information about who the kidnappers were etc, which for such a political show I think is just very odd. But of course I still love the characters a lot so I'm still enjoying it! It'll probably take me a while to get over the feeling it's less good :).

From the little things I've seen of the fandom, Amy isn't that well-liked. Maybe it's because she gets in the way of Josh/Donna? That's usually a big reason to dislike a female character :P. I love her but I do think she and Josh are a terrible couple so I don't know why they keep getting back together :P.

And Will probably needs a little longer, yeah. I didn't like Sam much either, at first, and I grew to love him.

THANK YOU! ♥

Thanks, now I'm thinking that I should rewatch Garden State soon. Because yeah, I'm one of those people that love it XD But I do know it's not for everyone! About the ending - was it just unexpected? Or more that you thought it was too cheesy that he stayed?

I happen to agree that those are great qualities to look for in a roommate. And I hope the genie grants that wish of yours! Or that you find an awesome job on your own of course :) Also? Cucumbers are the bestest.

I know, one of the reasons I wanted to see it was because you once recced it :). I did like it, I was just expecting more I guess. Yeah, the end was mostly too cheesy - I mean, I love a cheesy ending! But here it felt weird to me. I think I just wanted the movie to be something it wasn't because I kept expecting them to take it in a different direction than they did. If that makes sense. Idk, I loved the moment in your icon a whole lot though. It made me feel all sorts of ~feelings I wish the rest of the movie had made me feel too.

Ugh, this makes me want to watch more of The West Wing. I haven't seen it in forevers.

Good luck on your exams! They always make me crazy too.

good luck on your exams, you will ace them and that is a promise!

and garden state is good but weird, because at times it makes the weirdest choices and leaves me a big bemused.

Thanks! Not sure how you know this, but I'll trust you ;)

Yeah, it's not a bad movie at all but I agree it makes weird choices :)

Yeah, I think your sentiment about Ravenclaw is spot on ^^ I'd like to think I'd be a Ravenclaw too! Hah, we'd be sharing a dorm ^^

I guessed Paris, but I had no you idea you were so fond of Oxford. I've never been, but I suppose it's a very pretty place to go?

I'm sorry the exams aren't going too well *hugs* The exam schedule is a bit ridiculous this year. Whose idea was it to put three exams right after the other? *shakes fist*

Actually we wouldn't share a dorm because I would be a year lower, 'cause I think Hogwarts is more strict on the age when you can start school. BUT WE'D SHARE A COMMON ROOM.:P

Oxford is beautiful, yes. It's a very studenty place, of course. But all that history! All that knowledge :D. I like thinking about all the famous people who walked around there - same with Paris, of course. ♥

Garden State fell similarly flat for me. I never understood the hype over the movie. Maybe because I've never smoked pot, I had trouble identifying with the characters or something. Idk.

Oxford <3 All the love, easily.
