Top 5 Things I dream of doing in my life asked by
indybaggins
5. Learn to play the piano. It's gotten less likely that this will happen because I don't see myself taking lessons anytime soon but I really wanted to for a long time and I still kind of love the idea of being able to play.
4. Be in a healthy, functioning relationship. Which is a basic thing but hasn't happened yet and while I don't exactly cry myself to sleep over it, I do want a boyfriend somewhere down the line.
3. Have a profession. Which sounds abstract. But while I love studying what I do, it hasn't taught me anything that will actually be useful when I need a job. And more and more I am realising this. So I dream of someday being able to say "I can do this", and being hired for it, and maybe teaching others to do it. Whether it is through another education or through experience in a workplace.
2. Write a novel. Not publish a novel because I don't think of myself as a good writer, but I want to write one. So far, I don't have the ability and/or the focus to commit to it - and I don't have a story in my head that inspires me enough. But I want to try, and someday I want to just do it. Knowing myself and what I like to read it'll end up some bizarre and overly complicated magic realist Victorian-era female-centric murder mystery mess. And self-indulgent to the extreme :P
1. Move to Paris! Midnight in Paris? I am Owen Wilson's character. I am that cliché and not even ashamed :P
II. I finished Game of Thrones (the novel)! LOVED IT! I'll pick up A Clash of Kings on Friday. I think I'll watch the show when I've finished the books though. Slightly too attached to the versions in my head at this point, even though some of my mental images of the characters were heavily influenced by pictures I'd failed to avoid.
Top three characters
I do find the military planning a bit boring so I hope there's not too much of that in the next books and lots of character stuff. :) I'm also really looking forward to getting to know Cersei and Jaime better because they seem like amazing villains.
I was a bit spoiled for this one because of the show being eveyrwhere the last few months - I knew Ned would die (but then I would have figured that out myself because the guy was way too noble to survive in this world). And the angsty!Jon posts on Tumblr have made it pretty much impossible for me to take him serious, I'm afraid :P
But I don't know anything about the next ones! Very exciting :D
III.I'm still doing the Top Five meme, but this has been going around again and more memes are always welcome:
Give me a fandom and I will post my unpopular opinions about it!

Top three characters
- 1. Daenerys is my favourite. And when I say favourite I mean BEST EVER OMG. Amazing character. Amazing development. I do not quite ship her and Drogo but the moon of my life/my sun-and-stars stuff is beautiful. And the ending is awesome. She is the Blood of the Dragon and now she has baby dragons :D Whenever she'd stand up to Viserys I'd be cheering.
2. TYRION. He is hilarious and awesome. And he always makes things more interesting. If only he was in all chapters, there would be no boring bits anymore.
3. Sansa Stark. Which hey, surprise, is apparently a huge unpopular opinion? Oh, fandom. I admit that at first I loved Arya (and I still kind of do!) but Sansa is so much more interesting now. She is so naïve but when she loses her faith in heroes and princes it broke my heart. Her development is probably what I'm most interested in in these next few books.

Date: 2011-07-06 17:45 (UTC)I really love Sansa too. Her development is my favorite of all the Starks so far. When I get access to a library, I'll have to pick these books up.
I keep picking up and dropping piano lessons. I lack the necessary dedication, I suppose.

Date: 2011-07-18 16:31 (UTC)I must agree with your top three, except that I'm a bit more dubious on Sansa's character :p
I do quite like the battle planning, mostly because I'd love to be able to write things like that. I find it very difficult :p

Date: 2011-07-18 17:48 (UTC)I think at least part of my attachment to Sansa is because I knew beforehand that fandom disliked her, so I felt more protective of her I guess? But yeah, she does stand out to me. Maybe because I see myself more in her than in Sansa :P
Yeah, I suppose GRRM manages to make the battle things reasonably interesting which is a big writing accomplishment :P Still, moar character stuff please thnx :D
