Questions from [livejournal.com profile] johnmayergirl23

1. You're sitting in the garden and notice a creepy angel statue...that moves. DEAR GOD, IT'S A WEEPING ANGEL. There's no way out--it's going to eat you up...Where/When do you hope it transports you?

1920's Paris. Paris, because it is the most beautiful and lovely city in the world, to me.
1920's because I love the clothes and hairstyle. And 1920's Paris, because it is the time and place where most big names of literature that I admire are gathered together, so it would be impossible not to bump into one.
I might also, on occasion, cross the channel to England.
And try to find another Angel about ten years later, I suppose :s

2. What are the five best things about your hometown/area?

You know, I though about this for an absurdly long time. The problem is, I don't like Belgium. But I'll try. So, to be clear, I live in Flanders, near to Antwerp, which is where I go to school.

1) It's home. I know my way around, I know the language, I feel at home here.

2) It's not too overcrowded. Going to Oxford Street in London made appreciate the calm of our shopping streets.

3) There is a lovely alternate culture circuit. Which sounds pompous :o. I just love the Belgian experimental theater, and arthouse cinema in general. And there is a lot of that in Antwerp and Mechelen.

4) Antwerp has a great cafe with the best hot cocoa. And a rather lovely cocktailbar just two minutes from it. And several other lovely, hidden places.

5) Belgium is so small . Which is nice, because you can go everywhere really quickly. I've been to every part of it. I would feel so weird living in the US, where you have to take a plane to move across the country.

3. If you could pick any fictional character to come to life and be your best friend, who would it be?

Veronica Mars. She's smart and sassy, and would totally kick anyone's ass if I asked her to. Also, she'd bring Logan Echolls who is still one of my favourite characters EVER.

4. What do you want to be when you grow up?

Oh, I don't know. Happy? That's such a stupid answer.
I suppose career-wise, I want to do a job that really motivates me. Like directing plays, writing reviews,... Any job that involves my current studies in some way would be great, actually.

5. What is your favoritest favorite poem? (And if you're not a poetry person, how about favorite book?)

Poem: probably "i carry your heart with me" by ee cummings
I also have a special affection for "Annabel Lee" by EA Poe, because it's the only poem I know by heart.

Book: still 'The Ruby in the Smoke" by Philip Pullman.

1920s Paris would be fantastic! I'd try to spend some time bar-hopping and getting into crazy shenanigans with F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald.

Belgium! (Haha, I actually didn't know where you lived, so that was my sneaky way of finding out) That's very cool. Do you speak French, then?

"i carry your heart with me" is one of my favorites as well. :)

I would totally go and stalk James Joyce. Just because. XD

I actually speak Dutch. And high school French, which is just about enough to order bread or ask for the bill, lol.

And I will have to argue the coolness of Belgium. Nobody thinks Belgium is cool, least of all Belgians XD

I speak a very tiny bit of Pennsylvania Dutch, which is actually nothing like regular Dutch. It's basically German, lirl.

Well, we Americans think all European countries are cool because in our minds they're big and green and have cool villages and good food and speak funny languages. We're so over North America at this point.

Well, a lot of European countries are cool. Like Italy. But Belgium is sort of... gray. I still prefer it to America, though (no offence). It does have some nice buildings and the food's all right, I suppose.

Where do you live in America?

I also speak a little German, because it's, like, the third official language. But it's been pretty useless so far XD

I typically live in a small town in Pennsylvania, two hours-ish east of Philadelphia, but I spend nine months out of the year at college, which is the University of Richmond in Virginia. :)
