End of Time Part 1

muneca_bravaI only managed to watch it last night, because of silly little things like studying and christmas. So I stayed away from the internet for a few days. I'll probably catch up on some reaction posts later on.
But for now, my first reaction.
I think I can safely say it was not what I was expecting. I thought it'd be dramatic and angsty, not quite this insanely cracky.
I thik RTD had a bit of a crisis realising he will never get to run a show with this much potential for insanity ever again, so he went all the way (as well as in the plot, because there was too much going on there as well).
Some points:
- OMG Donna! I was afraid she'd turn out to be just a cameo or something, but she's actually getting her memories back! :)
- Wilf still has that ability to make everyone burst into tears. EVEN THE DOCTOR. I actually really did like that scene in the café.
- ha, I kept being reminded of that fandomsecret of RTD writing Doctor/Master fanfiction. Yes, he did. And he put it on the show :p (in a 6 pm bbc format)
I thought it was a really cool scene. Fire and electricity, reminiscing of the good old days (=before the murdering), hot telepatic contact...
I do love insane!Master. Well, I love everything John Simm does, tbh.
- haha, Obama. Moffat would never do that, would he. XD
- The whole world has turned into the Master. In dresses. I have no idea how to comment on this. I feel like I need a gif to properly express my reaction, but unfortunatly I have none. It would be something like :O :DD :P :O :O :O :OOOOOOOOOO lolwhut?
- Surprise!twist was completly predictable.
So in short; yay! Donna!, Wilf: I love you, John Simm: you saved the episode.
I hope the next one is better. But there seems to be too much plot going on to save it.
(Actually, it made me think that WoM = Utopia = Turn Left = great, unique, powerful episode vs following season finale: crack, fire, explosions and a lot of confusing plot.)

I loved it when he was all: "I'm President of the United States" and all the Simms started clapping and then when he talked about "Economic plan: deleted", the Simm in the front row in the dress started jumping up and down in excitement! God! I LOL-ed soooo hard!
And yes, indeed, I'm really happy with the Donna thing too. I can't wait until I'm able to watch the second episode and see what's going to happen there. I'll be sure to save your review until then ^^
And the Doctor crying! *huggles* awwww!
Fandomsecret? I think I'm a bit behind on that... Does RTD write doctor/master slash in his spare time or something?

Date: 2010-01-02 08:57 (UTC)I'd look it up to link, but it's been a while so it's too much trouble ;). There was a secret on Fandomsecrets where somebody was saying they believed RTD used to write Doctor/Master fic, where they were boys on Gallifrey etc. Which sort of came true in this episode ;)
John Simm in a dress is THE BEST THING EVER. It made this episode. The next one is a lot better, imo, but it doesn't have John Simm in a dress (or not for long anyway).
